Remake of Kolya essays In the original film, Louka is 55 year old play boy who has nothing going for him. He used to work as a cellist for the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra until he got kicked out. These days, he plays funerals at the city crematorium. Strapped for cash and lacking many material comforts, Louka frequently indulges himself with the company of other men's wives. His change from within happens when he is left to care for a 5 year old boy left to him by his wife from a fake marriage. The boy, Kolya, teaches him to grow up, to mature, to be responsible, and to give up his bachelor lifestyle. To remake this film, I would set it in modern day New York perhaps. In this film, its about an Italian Mafia Godfather, played by Al Pacino, like Michael Corleone of The Godfather, who gets stuck with his estranged daughters child. In the life of this man, he is caught up in the day-to-day dealings with his dysfunctional family, his businesses both legal and illegal. He has no time to take a step back from everything and assess his life. Its one rollercoaster ride after the next. All his children have grown up. His sons are already enmeshed in the Mafia way of life. As for his daughter, she has chosen to disown her family because she doesnt approve of the lifestyle they live. Yes, they have all the comforts of material things, in fact they live quite lavishly but her moral conscience cannot take the idea that shes living in the lap of luxury because of blood money or other illegal means. The estrangement between father and daughter hurts the Godfather, of course. He blames his son-in-law for stealing his only daughter and decides to have him killed. Once this happens, his daughter goes crazy and he finds himself in the middle of the courtroom.
